Cane Corso

Cane Corso: Feeding, Hygiene, Health, Temperament and all Care

The cane corso is a very popular breed also called Italian Mastiff. A large and strong dog like the Neapolitan Mastiff. The name Italian corso dog comes from the Latin coros meaning guardian.

Origin

The cane corso comes from his ancestors in Rome Canix pugmax a very large dog that accompanied the legions in war and battles. The Italian cane corso was the most purchased dog in Italy used for herding and hunting.

Nowadays, the Italian Cane Corso is a dog generally purchased for the protection of the family, home, enclosures, etc. It is a very familiar and guardian dog.

Care of the Cane Corso

Buying an Italian Cane Corso puppy is a very important decision. We must take care of all aspects of our puppy’s hygiene so that he does not get infections and diseases.

Hygiene, cleaning, bathing and brushing

– We must periodically brush our puppy’s teeth. In dog shops you will find many items to help you do this correctly.
– We must bathe our Italian Mastiff approximately every six weeks with the help of a hose or directly in the bathtub with warm water.
– We must use a specific canine shampoo for the coat of the Cane Corso and rinse it with plenty of water so that no shampoo remains on the skin.
– To dry our Italian Mastiff’s coat afterwards, we must use an electric hair dryer to leave it completely dry.
– The Italian Corsican puppy’s coat should be brushed every week to remove dead hair. A short, soft bristled brush should be used.

Vaccinations and anti-parasites

When you buy an Italian Mastiff puppy you should go to a veterinarian for a check-up and to establish a vaccination schedule.
You will have to put some collars against fleas and ticks.

Feeding puppies

The feeding of the cane corso is very important for a healthy dog.
The best food for puppies is natural food without animal feed. We recommend a BARF diet based on MEAT, VEGETABLES, MILK AND FISH. Personally, we have been personally committed to the natural diet for many years.

With this diet we achieve for example a higher muscle level, spectacular absorption in the body, much less feces, better hair quality, more energy and health.
For a long time we have been preparing our own menu for cane corso puppies and adults, with meat, fish, vegetables and oils.

For puppies less than 6 months old we buy an mincer, in order to pass from breastfeeding to a natural diet, passing first through probiotics to prepare the puppy’s gastric juices.
